How much did/will you pay for your wedding cake?
I was blessed to have a close childhood friend whose a professional cake decorator who did our cake. It served 200 people, 3 square tiers, raspberry filling and white chocolate buttercream icing. It had a row of lilies and orchids cascading down and around from the top to bottom. I remember there were lots of details like small silver beads (edible), swirls, swags in the icing. How much would I have paid for something like this?
The cake was free! My husband insisted on reimbursing her by giving her 15 personal training sessions.

- i think it is free.
- MMMMMhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That cake was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
- I found a local bakery that allowed me to design my own cake. I chose to have a water fountain underneath it, 2 tiers above with stairs coming from the top to 2 heart shaped cakes on side. The designs were reversed silver lace and white roses with silver and black ribbons. The cake was amazing and it only cost $145.00 to serve 150-200. This was also one that would allow the top tier to be professionally packed and frozen for the first year anniversary. A year later it still tasted amazing!

- This site is expensive.
But the average is about $2.50 per slice; then the filling (which is usually more) you're talking upwards of $500.
Might be more considering where you live.
This was an AWESOME gift.

- Well, I am feeding 100 people for $200. 3 teir square cake. Your teirs must be bigger than mine, plus I am not doing the additional top layer thing (I saved money there too). My guess would be that you are saving maybe $300. If she is also providing the top layer that you will save for your first anniversary, then I would say $350.
- The average wedding cake is $1.50 - $2.50 a slice. So you would likely have paid $300 - $500 for your cake to feed 200.
This of course is dependant on your location, cake baker/decorator, etc. but that is a ballpark figure.
- 10,000
- It sounds very ornate and lovely...my cousin is getting married and her cake costs $600 for only about 85 people...it's $7.50 a slice. That's Philadelphia, obviously, prices vary greatly by region, but I've also been pricing cakes, and for about 200 guests, we're looking at $250-$450.
- My husband and I were married in October of 2005 in Los Angeles. Based on the really wonderful fillings and decorations your friend put into the cake I'd guess that cake would cost around $1,000 here and maybe $500 - $750 in a smaller city where things are less expensive. Your friend gave you a wonderful gift by doing your cake and I think it's great you've decided to give her a thank you gift!
- My cake is a five tier cake serving 200-275 people with my own designs for $400.
- I am getting my cake from a New York based designer, so this is going to be a bit skewed if you don't live in this region. With flowers (fresh are cheaper than sugar) my cake costs $9 per slice and feeds 250 without the top layer. Buttercream cakes are cheaper than fondant ones and ganache filling is usually a bit more expensive. Depending where you got your cake and how talented your friend is at design, it could easily have been up to $4 per slice.
- Mine sounds exactly like that but it was 4 layers and it cost about $1200.
- Mine is going to be $4.00 per serving which is really quite high I think. And I won't get all the pretty flowers.
- My wedding cake will be free in my wedding package...
but i just wanted to say, your cake sounds lovely... yum yum!!
- No wedding cake per se just for show like that; rather had traditional wedding fruitcake, baked by my mom, which was cut, wrapped and decorated, and given to people at donations, for them to put under their pillows to dream on.
Our fancy "display" item was three tier traditional Ukrainian wedding breads (korovai), they are round and braided, decorated with bread doves and other items, ribbons, flowers, etc. They were beautiful!
