I need a good easy recipe for a coconut german chocolate frosting.?

I made a German Chocolate cake last year with a homemade frosting recipe I found online. I didn't like it. It came out fine but once it was chilled it was hard. So I need a recipe for a homemade coconut pecan caramel frosting recipe. Preferably one that doesn't use a store bought frosting can in any way. Thank you!

    No Cook Coconut Caramel Pecan Frosting Recipe


    1/2 cup soft butter
    2 cups brown sugar
    1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
    3 tablespoons heavy cream
    1/2 cup shredded coconut
    1/2 cup chopped pecans

    1 servings 1 cake

    10 minutes 10 mins prep

    1. Cream the butter and vanilla.
    2. Add brown sugar gradually while continuing to beat.
    3. Stir in coconut and chopped nuts
    4. Add only enough cream to achieve desired consistancy.
    (Optional) If you make this the night before, you can put it the microwave for 1 minute after step 2. Beat for a minute then leave at room temp over night and add the cream the next day before using.

  3. German Chocolate Cake Icing
    (Coconut Pecan)

    1 cup Sugar
    3 Egg yolks; slightly beaten
    1 teaspoon Vanilla
    1 cup Evaporated milk
    1/2 cup Butter
    1-1/3 cups Coconut
    1 cup Chopped pecans

    Combine sugar, milk, egg yolks, butter and vanilla. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, about 12 minutes. Remove from heat, add coconut and pecans. Cool and beat occasionally until spreading consistency.

    Will frost & fill 8", 2-layer cake.
