Place a rack in center of oven and preheat to 350 degrees.
For the crust, mix the cake mix, melted butter and egg in bowl and blend on low speed 2 minutes. (if using a handheld mixer, you'll probably have to kick up the speed to medium).
Pat the batter into an ungreased 9x13 pan smoothing it out so it's even.
For the filling: beat the cream cheese in the same bowl for 30 seconds until fluffy.
Add eggs, vanilla and melted butter beating on medium speed for 1 minute.
Slowly add the confectioners sugar until well blended. Beat 1 minute more.
Reserve 1 cup of cheese mixture. Spread remaining mixture over the crust, smoothing till even.
Melt chocolate chips in pan over boiling water, or melt in microwave 1 minute at a time making just until melted.
Stir the chocolate (still hot) with the reserved cheese filling until well blended.
Spoon chocolate over filling in pan and swirl with a knife for marbling effect.
Bake 45 - 47 minutes until it is well browned, but the center still jiggles when you shake the pan.
Remove pan and cool at least 30 minutes. before cutting into bars. Store 4 days on counter, or 1 week in refrigerator. This can also be frozen up to 6 months.
- Bake it for about 3 minutes less than you normally would and use more eggs in the mix.
- mix a box of chocolate pudding into it with a little milk....the pudding won't bake hard, therefore the cake will be really moist
- Add applesause instead of the oil and a package of good chocolate chips.
- I would just suggest adding more eggs to the batter.
- add apple sauce instead of butter and chocolate pudding....thats what i see people doing
- I have found, when baking any type of cake, it is moister when you use more liquid. So instead of using cocoa, try using baker's chocolate or chocolate syrup. Fresh apples, make an apple cake moist, as do bananas for banana bread.
- Add a cup of chocolate syrup to the batter, or a prepared package of chocolate or vanilla pudding, but bake it for just as long.
- Use your own recipe;
Then add a 1/4 of chocolate syurp to the cake instead of water
then add a 1/4 of sour cream.
this will make it gooy
- add a little bit of espresso to your batter - just replace 1/4 cup of the liquid or add 1-2 tbl of instant. Also-be sure to use cake flour or sift your flour - it makes a huge difference and don't over cook - that's how you will keep it gooey!
- try Hellmann's mayonnaise recipe for chocolate cake
- Put chocolate pudding in it. It will reduce the amount of liquid you need to add.
- to make a moist chocolate cake here goes
2cups cake flour
2cups sugar
2tsp baking powder
2tsp baking soda
1 cup milk
1cup boiling water(water must be boiling)
2/3cup cocoa powder
1/2cup mayonaise
add all ingredients to a bowl and beat with electric beater till mixed about 2mins.
pour into a greased and paper lined cake tin (paper line the bottom only-use a spring form cake tin)and bake for 30-45mins 170degrees or check with a toothpick
while cake in hot poke holes in it and fill up with homemake chocolate syrup. leave to cool and frost with your favourite frosting
ps i have given the receipe to someone else on the yahoo answers and was voted the best so try it out and goodluck

1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cup sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup oil

Beat all together. This will be very thin. Pour in greased baking pan. Cake pans or 9 x13 is what I usually use.Bake 30 minutes. test before removing.DO NOT OVER BAKE!!
- this may sound gross, but add 1/4 cup of mayonaise to the cake mix to make it moist. as for gooey, i add godiva chocolate chips and peanut butter chips
