- NO,
Why don't you buy a cook book at a cheap store and look it up? I know betty crocker cake mixes are REALLY good. The chocolate ones are AWESOME!
- cheap to buy one
- Can't trust the Internet and you're asking us? LOL just kidding, there seems to be a lack of moisture in that recipe like maybe some milk or cream
- No, actually.
You'll want to remove the butter and chocolate from the heat before adding the egg. Eggs can start to cook if you put them in a hot liquid, and then you end up with scrambled egg in your cake.
I don't think there's a very good flour-to-liquid ratio in your cake, either, though I could be wrong.
I have some better recipes, but they have American measurements.
...I will return and edit in a better recipe.
The best cooking instructions website I know of is www.epicurious.com. Instructions for different techniques, including video. An American site, but it has a conversion page, too. Look for the link on the left-hand side of the screen.
Two recipes for you. One with American measurements and clear instructions and one that isn't chocolate but is written by a Brit I trust.

Windsor Castle Cake
8 oz of butter, softened
8 oz of caster sugar
Grated rind of one orange
2 eggs
4 oz self raising flour
6 oz of ground rice
4 tablespoons of milk
Granulated sugar for sprinkling
Turn on the oven, 350F, 180C. Grease a 7 1/2 inch deep cake tin, and line with paper.
Place butter and caster sugar in a bowl. Beat together with a wooden spoon until the mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in orange rind. Beat eggs and add gradually, beating the mixture well after each addition
Add flour, ground rice and milk, and mix gently with a wooden spoon. Put in tin and level top with back of spoon.
Sprinkle surface thickly with granulated sugar, place the cake on a baking sheet and bake in the centre of the oven 75-80 minutes. Test by pressing with the fingers. If cooked, the cake should spring back and have begun to shrink from the sides of the tin. Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then remove from the tin and place on a wire rack until completely cold. Keeps for up to 3 days in a tin, or 3 months in a freezer.
- well it is clear but im not sure about the corn flour. try the bbc website and teh cookery bit has lots of reciepies
- I dont know a receipe from scratch but I do know the Dunkin Hines box(not sure if this is spelled correctly) devils food cake is one of the BEST chocolate cakes you can make. I always get lots of compliments on the cake when I make it.
- You can trust this recipe - it's delicious!
200g self raising flour
225g caster sugar
2.5ml spoon salt
25g cocoa powder
100g marg
2 eggs, size3
5 * 15ml spoon evaporated milk
5 * 15ml spoon water
few drops vanilla essence
Heat oven to 180C
Grease 2 * 20.5cm tins (not loose bottomed)
Mix flour,sugar,salt,cocoa.
Rub in marg. Beat eggs with milk.
Stir egg mixture, essence and liquids into dry ingredients and mix well.
Place mixture in prepared tins and bake for about 30-35mins. Test middle to make sure knife comes out clean.
When cold sandwich and top with milk choc icing.
Icing:
60g marg
15ml spoon cocoa
250g sieved icing sugar
3 * 15ml spoon hot milk
15ml spoon vanilla essence
Melt marg, blending in cocoa then stir in icing sugar, milk and essence.
Beat until smooth and thick.
This icing is really nice but cake tastes just as good with butter icing.
I usually just use 1 big tin and slice in half as I think it keeps the cake more moist.
Enjoy!
- Why don't you check the website of brand name products that you trust? For example: Kraft, Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, etc. all have awesome recipes on their websites that are free. If you're not sure what their websites are, just search the name.
