I can't eat the amount of calories I'm supposed to!!?

People always say you need to eat at least 1200 calories per day to stay healthy, and I try to eat enough but I get so full and by the end of the day I've only eaten like 800 or 1000 calories, and I'm stuffed! Like today I ate: Breakfast: 2 rice cakes (100 cal) Lunch: Spaghetti squash with tomato sauce (65 cal) Dinner: Salad (19cal) with turkey(83cal), fat free cheese (45cal), and fat free ranch dressing (40 cal) Snacks: Fat free yogurt (100 cal), 2 Special K snack bars (180cal), an entire bag of Kettle Corn popcorn (195 cal), sugar-free chocolate pudding (60 cal), and a serving of fat free wheat thins (130 cal). That only adds up to 1,017 calories, but I feel full! I ate everything I wanted today, and didn't starve myself or deprive myself. I feel full and satisfied! Is there anything wrong with not eating "enough" calories if one honestly feels full?? p.s. I've only had water, tea, and diet soda to drink, so there aren't any un-accounted for drink calories in there The food I listed was just an example of how every day is; I eat 800-1,000 calories every day, not just today

  1. One does not need to over eat. If u feel full then it's enough. Some days u will need more calories than others. Relax
  2. even if your trying to lose weight your metabolism SLOWS down if you eat under 1200 calories. this could cause you to gain weight. try eating more fruits & veggies. and if you usually cant eat enough calories just dont eat so many low-calorie foods. you can eat higher calorie, healthy foods. ex: peanut butter, nuts, cheese, etc. these have fats which you seem to be avoiding but your body needs fat to get by on a day to day basis, as long as its healthy fats (not like all the saturated/trans fats in most sweets).
  3. I think your problem is not that you can't eat enough, its that you are eating all this health fat free food. Eat a donut or something (300 cals!!!) or if you want to stay healthy, go for fuller yogurt (150 cals!!!)....and you need to add more carbs to your diet...a sandwich for lunch will be about 400.... you seem to be choosing the lowest-calorie foods.
  4. If you're full off of this stuff, I'd be interested in seeing how full you would feel eating complex carbs, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. Your diet is very processed, from the rice cakes to the special K bars, to the wheat thins. It doesn't matter if it's fat free or not. Your diet needs a total makeover.
