What is German Chocolate Cake as opposed to another kind of chocolate cake?

  2. German chocolate cake is known for it's browned coconut topping and filling. Regular chocolate cake has no coconut.
  3. German Chocolate Cake has coconuts and pecan nuts.
    And, it has a misleading name! It doesn't have anything to do with Germany, but with a baker named "Samuel German." So, to be true to tradition, it should be made with "German Sweet Baking Chocolate."
