Receipe for German Chocolate Cake???

  2. 1 pkg. (2-layer size) German chocolate cake mix

    1/2 cup oil

    3 eggs

    1 can (16 oz.) ready-to-spread vanilla frosting

    3/4 cup BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut

    3/4 cup PLANTERS Pecans, chopped

    1/3 cup thick caramel-flavored dessert topping

    12 OREO Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, finely chopped


    PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Place cake mix, 1-1/4 cups water, oil and eggs in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer on low speed just until moistened. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Pour evenly into 2 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.

    BAKE 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted near centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely.

    MIX frosting, coconut, pecans and caramel topping. Place 1 cake layer on serving plate; spread with half of the frosting mixture. Top with 1/2 cup of the cookies; press gently into frosting. Cover with remaining cake layer. Repeat layers of frosting mixture and chopped cookies.

    FROM SCRATCH

    1/2 cup butter
    2 cups sugar
    2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    4 eggs, separated
    1 pinch salt
    1 package German chocolate, melted
    2/3 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 cup buttermilk, dissolve baking soda in it
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    Filling
    1/2-1 cup butter
    1 cup chopped nuts
    4 egg yolks
    1 bag coconut
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
    1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk

    Cream the butter and sugar.
    Add beaten egg yolks and beat well.
    Add the flour and buttermilk alternately to the mixture.
    Add the melted chocolate, then fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and salt.
    Add vanilla and mix well.
    Pour the batter into four 9" layer pans and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes.
    Cool the cake completely in the pans.

    Cook the butter, egg yolks, sugar, and milk until thick enough to spread (20-30 minutes) stirring constantly over medium heat.
    Cool the mixture, then add nuts and most of the coconut.
    Spread the mixture between the layers and on the top and sides.
    Sprinkle the balance of the coconut on the top and sides.
  3. German Chocolate Cake
    "German Chocolate Cake with brown sugar and coconut topping."
    1 1/2 cups cake flour
    1 cup white sugar
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/3 cup butter, softened
    3/8 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4 (1 ounce) squares German sweet chocolate
    2 eggs
    3/8 cup buttermilk
    2/3 cup flaked coconut
    1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    2 tablespoons cream
    1/4 cup chopped walnuts
    1/4 cup butter, softened
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 inch square cake pan.
    Sift the cake flour, 1 cup white sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
    Cream 1/3 cup of the butter or margarine. Stir in 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons buttermilk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Blend in the flour mixture and beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add the melted and cooled German sweet chocolate, eggs, and the remaining buttermilk. Continue to beat at medium speed for another minute more. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
    Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 minutes. Cool in pan for 15 minutes then frost.
    To Make Frosting: Combine the coconut, brown sugar, cream, chopped nuts, 1/4 cup butter or margarine. Mix until of a spreadable consistency. Spread over top of baked cake. Broil 3 inches from heat until browned (about 3 minutes). Serve cake warm or cold.
